Public Safety and Community Policing Forum bring together city leaders and community residents.

The Public Safety Forum, held June 14, was a powerful event.  About 40 people gathered at the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building to hear Chief DeMuth, ask questions and have face-to-face conversations about their issues and concerns.

Chief DeMuth and Lt. Rowe covered a wide array of topics: Shaker’s Guardian approach to policing, the new Bike Patrol, car break-ins and noise, speeders, safety in our public space, plans for policing the new Van Aken District, and more.  Perhaps most valuable were the one-on-one conversations afterwards when relationships were built and partnerships for working together.  Thanks to all who attended, and especially Chief DeMuth; Lt. Rowe; our Q&A moderator, Councilperson Julianna Senturia; and Rec Department Director, Alexandria Nichols, who shared info on Thornton Park.
